HC Deb 17 June 1991 vol 193 c11W
Mr. Carr

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make it his policy to undertake an assessment of the potential environmental effects on mainland Britain of the proposed power station sited in the River Neb valley, Isle of Man; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Baldry

I am advised that the proposed power station at Peel in the Isle of Man is small in size—40 MW—and will replace an existing power station on an adjacent site. I am further advised that the Manx Electricity Authority has taken Her Majesty's inspectorate of pollution's published guidance into account in formulating its proposals and that there is expected to be an overall environmental improvement.
