To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) how many patients(a) in total and (b) from hospitals and homes owned by the Eastern and Southern health and social services boards were referred to private residential and nursing homes in each of the past five years;

(2) what hospitals and other institutions within the national health service referred patients to private residential and nursing homes in the Eastern and Southern health and social services boards in each year since 1 April 1985.
