To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what constraints the Data Protection Act 1984 imposes on information about convictions sustained by British citizens being passed to Interpol; and if he will make a statement.

The police national computer is subject to the provisions of the Data Protection Act. Under these provisions, information on convictions held on the PNC may be disclosed to member countries of Interpol for policing purposes.
