§ Mr. MeacherTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will review his Department's benefit booklets to ensure that if receipt of a benefit is dependent on entitlement to another benefit this is made explicit.
§ Miss WiddecombeIt is the Department's policy to make this interdependance clear whenever possible in our leaflets. However, leaflets cannot cover every possible combination of circumstances without loss of clarity.
We will of course continue to check new or revised editions of leaflets to ensure that they explain the connection between benefits. If the hon. Member has a particular booklet in mind, I would be happy to look at it.
