§ Mr. MaudeIt is estimated that about 250,000 incorporated businesses had taxable profits of £35,000 or less in accounting periods ending in the year to 31 March 1989. This is the latest period for which reasonably complete information is available.
The approximate lengths of time for which these businesses had been operating are shown in the table.
