§ Mr. John PattenThe provisional number of offences of rape recorded by the police in 1990 is published in table 2 of "Home Office Statistical Bulletin 4/91". The number of persons found guilty of rape in 1989 is published in table S4. 1(a) of "Criminal statistics, England and Wales, Supplementary tables, 1989 Vol. 4". Corresponding information for 1990 is not yet available. A detailed analysis of offences of rape was published in "Home Office Statistical Bulletin 4/89, Statistics of offences of rape 1977–87". Information on reporting and recording of sexual offences is published in table A.2 of "The 1988 British Crime Survey" (Home Office research study 111) and on rape in table 2 of "Concerns about rape" (Home Office research study 106). Copies of all these publications are available in the Library.
