HC Deb 12 June 1991 vol 192 c568W
Ms. Walley

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many occasions in the last six months the International Maritime Organisation requirements have been breached by a failure to maintain the minimum staffing level of two fully trained regular officers and one auxiliary at any marine rescue co-ordination centre or sub-centre in the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. McLoughlin

The International Maritime Organisation requires contracting Governments to provide adequate search and rescue services for persons in distress around their coasts. At no time during the last six months has the United Kingdom failed to meet these requirements.
