To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what determines the standard spending assessment on social services for Greenwich borough council.

Mr. Portillo

The method of allocating the standard spending assessment for social services is set out in the Revenue Support Grant Distribution Report (England) as amended by the Revenue Support Grant (Amendment) Report (England) which was approved by the House in January this year. The same method is used for Greenwich as for all other social services authorities in England.
