(2) if he will call for a report from the chief constable of Northumbria as to how many car thefts were reported to the Northumbrian police in 1990, or the latest year for which figures are available in (a) Northumbria as a whole and (b) Newcastle and, of these, how many led to (i) prosecution and (ii) conviction;
(3) if he will call for a report from the chief constable of Northumbria as to how many cars were reported to the Northumbrian police as damaged through break-ins in 540W 1990, or the latest year for which figures are available, in (a) Northumbria as a whole and (b) Newcastle; and how many reports led to (i) prosecution and (ii) conviction.
§ Mr. John PattenThe available information for 1990 on notifiable offences recorded in the Northumbria police force area is in the Library. Information on cars damaged during break-ins is not available centrally. The available information on prosecutions and convictions in Northumbria is contained in the chief constable's annual report which is also available in the Library.
