HC Deb 12 June 1991 vol 192 c571W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is his estimate of the total amount of community charge unpaid in Wales since its inception.

Mr. Nicholas Bennett

Local authorities in Wales would receive some £414 million if all 1990–91 community charge bills were paid in full. Latest estimates suggest that they will receive around £389 milion of this, representing 94 per cent. of the full amount due. It is for local authorities to seek full payment of outstanding amounts in order to protect the interests of charge payers generally.
