To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, further to his oral answer of 4 June,Official Report, column 137, what advice he has received on the lung function of service personnel in the area of the oil fires in Kuwait and from which experts.

The monitoring of the lung function of our personnel is undertaken by our medical team in Kuwait, together with a military public health physician.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will now seek information about the lung conditions of dissected sheep in Kuwait.

No. The presence of atmospheric pollutants in Kuwait is well known and effective measures are therefore in place to monitor the health of our personnel.
