To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish a table showing the percentage of land designated as green-belt areas in(a) Scotland, (b) Strathclyde and (c) Renfrew district.

The percentages of land designated as green belt in the areas mentioned are:

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what are the criteria used to designate green belt land in Scotland.

The criteria for the designation of green belt land are set out in SDD circular 24/1985. It is for local plans to establish the exact boundaries of green belts within the strategic framework set by the circular and structure plan policies.
