HL Deb 10 June 1991 vol 529 c51WA
Baroness Ewart-Biggs

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the full extent of United Kingdom aid to Cambodia for 1991–92, and what conditions will have to be met before they restore bilateral aid to Cambodia.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (The Earl of Caithness):

The Government are continuing to provide humanitarian assistance through British non-governmental organisations and UN agencies to Cambodian people living inside the country and in camps on the Thai border. Commitments total £1.9 million since April 1990. We are currently considering new proposals for support in 1991–92 and we expect to receive further applications. We are also ready, in the context of a comprehensive political settlement, to consider with other donors how best to meet Cambodia's needs for resettlement, reconstruction and development aid.
