§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyThe estimates quoted in theOfficial Report of 16 May were based on detailed returns 447W in respect of some 360,000 deliveries. In the same financial year—1989–90—there were 650,804 live births and 3,067 stillbirths in England, a total of 653,871 deliveries.
