§ Mr. BaldryThe Government are aware of the potential effects of lead shot on the environment. We have asked the Nature Conservancy Council for England to assess the extent of any danger to wildlife and its habitat, and to monitor the outcome of current research into possible alternatives to lead shot. When we have evaluated all this evidence, we will be able to decide whether voluntary restriction or legislation is more appropriate.
