§ Mr. VazTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what measures are being taken by his Department to eliminate racial attacks.
§ Mr. Peter LloydThe Home Office has issued a series of guidelines to all police forces on responding effectively and as a priority to racial attacks. Good practice in preventing attacks, supporting victims and dealing with perpetrators is spread and monitored, in co-operation with Her Majesty's inspectorate of constabulary. We are co-ordinating the work of all responsible agencies in providing further guidance, information and evaluation on national and local initiatives. Broader policies on equal opportunities, quality of service and police training are designed to take full account of the problem of racial attacks.
