To ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) what conditions govern the issuing of operative licences to the proprietors of private ambulance services;

(2) if the applicants for licences to operate private ambulance services are vetted for details of previous criminal convictions.

Private ambulance services are not subject to any vetting or licensing procedures.
