§ Sir Wyn RobertsModeration is part of the national curriculum assessment arrangements which, for seven and 11-year-olds, is the responsibility of the individual local education authorities.
Each LEA, supported by total grant approved expenditure of £2.2 million in 1991–92, is required to develop assessment implementation plans which cover the administrative and training arrangements for moderation. The School Examinations and Assessment Council has provided detailed guidance on moderation which will be updated later this year for use in the 1992 arrangements.
