To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment whether all the work allocated by the district works office, royal parks, to Baker Bros. that was paid for, has now been completed.

With one exception, the type of orders used by the district works office, royal parks, to place work with that company (which is now called Electrical Refrigeration (South East Ltd) requires the work to be completed before payment is made. The exception related to a specific contract which provided for interim payments; the work was completed before the final payment was made.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment which district works offices of the Property Services Agency allocated electrical work to Messrs Baker Bros (Grays) Ltd. in the year since 1987.

The district works offices concerned were central London palaces, City-London north, Kensington, museums and galleries groups 1 and 2, royal parks, special buildings 1 and 2, Whitehall, north and Whitehall, south.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what steps he has taken to assure himself that electrical and buildings maintenance work carried out to the Rose Garden restaurant in Regent's park has been accurately apportioned and monitored;

(2) what steps he has taken to assure himself that the arrangements for allocating work to Messrs. Baker Bros. (Grays) Ltd. on projects carried out at Regent's park were drawn up in compliance with departmental guidelines;

National and sub-national information on private sector fair rents registered with rent officers for 1979 are published in the Department's "Note for Rent Officers RO(S)33", a copy of which has been placed in the Library. Comparable information for the fourth quarter of 1990 is in the Department's "Statistical Bulletin 91(2) Rent Officer Statistics, Third and fourth quarters 1990".
