HC Deb 04 June 1991 vol 192 cc218-9W
Mr. McMaster

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will call for a report from the relevant chief constables giving the total policing costs arising from(a) the Conservative party conference in Perth and (b) the Labour party conference in Aberdeen in 1991; and if he will make a statement.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

I understand from the chief constables of the forces concerned that the additional costs involved were £120,000 and £560, respectively. The level of resources provided for the policing of party conferences is an operational matter for the chief constable concerned in the light of all the circumstances including the threat assessment.
