To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what resources are being allocated to ensure that stated targets for listed buildings, surveying historic monuments and sites and designating conservation areas can be met.

Mr. Needham

In 1991–92. the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland will spend £5.1 million, including staff costs and programmes expenditure, on tasks or functions related to historic building and monuments. The Department remains on course for meeting the targets set out in Government's White Paper "This Common Inheritance" (Cmd 1200).
