To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement concerning the Army command structure in Wales.

I expect to be able to make an announcement shortly on the reorganisation of the United Kingdom land forces district structure and its implications for Wales.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) if he will meet the chairman of the Territorial Army Volunteer Reserve for Wales, Maindy barracks, Cardiff to discuss the Army command structure in Wales;

(2) if he will meet the Assembly of Welsh Counties to discuss the Army command structure in Wales.

There are no plans for such meetings.

A number of representations have been made, principally in the form of letters from Members of Parliament and parliamentary questions.
