HC Deb 03 June 1991 vol 192 c79W
Mr. Peter Bottomley

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what estimate he has of how much would have to be added to the price of each television set to replace the television licence fee, assuming the average life of a set to be five or 10 years.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

On current estimated sales volumes, an additional charge of about £355 per TV set would be needed to raise a sum equivalent to current net licence fee revenue.
