Mr. McCrady

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what was the budgetary allocation in respect of the social fund to each social security office in South Down in each year since 1 April 1988 to 31 March 1991, respectively.

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many people who made applications for social fund loans and grants who were in receipt of income support were refused at each social security office in South Down.

Details for 1988–89, 1989–90 and 1990–91 are shown in the table. The figures include a small number of instances where crisis loans have been claimed by people who are not receiving income support. It is not possible to identify these cases.
