To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what information he has on gross savings and gross indebtedness; and what are the comparable figures for other G7 countries.

Data for gross saving in the United Kingdom are published by the CSO in "United Kingdom National Accounts". Data for gross financial assets and liabilities for the United Kingdom, on various sectoral definitions, are published by the CSO in "Financial Statistics". Data for gross saving in the other G7 countries are published by the OECD in "Historical Statistics 1960–69". Data for gross indebtedness, on a comparable basis across the G7 countries, are not available.
