HL Deb 03 June 1991 vol 529 c25WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether. following UN Resolution 681 of 1990 and the Secretary General's interim report of 9th April 1991 S/22475, they will consult the signatories of the; Fourth Geneva Convention with a view to ensuring the protection of the Palestinians living in the Occupied Territories and in the Lebanon.

The Earl of Caithness

The UN Secretary General is consulting the parties to the Fourth Geneva Convenetion about how to improve international protection of the Palestinians of the Occupied Territories. We support his efforts. We believe that the Taif accord remains the only means to lasting peace in Lebanon, from which everyone in Lebanon can benefit, including Palestinians. Israel should withdraw from Southern Lebanon in accordance with Security Council Resolution 425.
