To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what percentage, for the latest available year, of all retail goods, including motor vehicles, sold in(a) Germany, (b) France and (c) Italy, were imported.

The figures are set out as follows and show the proportion of apparent consumption met by imports of consumer goods in 1988:

The figure in 1988 was 32.7 per cent.
