Mr. Dobson

To ask the Prime Minister if he will give the number of dedicated energy managers in the Cabinet Office and the number of person-years devoted to energy management in the latest year.

The Prime Minister

The Cabinet Office has one part-time energy manager.

Mr. Dobson

To ask the Prime Minister if he will give for each available year from 1978 the amount invested in improving the energy efficiency of the Cabinet Office in(a) cash terms and (b) 1990–91 money terms.

The Prime Minister

The only information available relates to 1990–91 when approximately £78,000 was spent on measures aimed at improving energy efficiency in the Cabinet Office. This excludes expenditure on planned maintenance and the use of energy-efficient lighting in refurbishment programmes which is not separately identifiable from other costs.
