To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will provide figures for 1977, 1979, 1981, 1983 and 1985 ranked by equivalised disposable income as defined in table P, page 119 ofEconomic Trends No. 449, March 1991, showing by quintile groups of households (a) income tax, (b) national insurance contributions and gross rates separately as proportions of gross income and (b) VAT and other indirect taxes separately as proportions of disposable income.
