HL Deb 25 July 1991 vol 531 c80WA
Baroness David

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What plans they have to provide moneys for books needed to meet the requirements for new vocational qualifications for the 16-plus age group.

Baroness Blatch

In general, it is for individual local education authorities, schools and colleges to decide how to deploy the resources available to them. Specific support will be provided through the programme of Grants for Education Support and Training for 1992–93 to support local education authority spending on the introduction of vocational qualifications. Grants will support some £10.2 million of spending in England and Wales. Local education authorities may decide to spend a proportion of this grant supported expenditure on books.
