Mr. Robert HughesTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what guidance he has given to trust hospitals in Scotland about prices charged to health authorities in areas and specialties for which the trust hospital is a monopoly supplier.
§ Mr. Michael ForsythGuidance has been issued to those units which have applied, or are considering applying, for trust status. This guidance advises that prices charged to health boards should cover all costs plus a 6 per cent. return on the current value of net assets. This requirement is binding on all NHS trust units.
