HC Deb 25 July 1991 vol 195 c863W
Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what evaluation has been made of Di Hydrase Testosterone as a medicine for damaged prostates.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

I have no information on any product with this name. The in vivo metabolite of Testosterone, Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), is believed to be an active agent within the prostate gland responsible for normal and abnormal growth. There are no known studies on the use of DHT as a treatment, but there is ongoing research into the effects of DHT inhibitors.
