HL Deb 25 July 1991 vol 531 c78WA
Lord Molloy

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will provide extra resources to local authorities to enable them to send details of planning applications to all those affected.

Baroness Blatch

The Government are committed to the principle that all planning applications should be subject to some form of compulsory publicity. The Department of the Environment issued on 17th July a consultation paper which discusses how this commitment might be most efficiently and effectively achieved in England. The consultation paper invites views on a number of options, including requiring applicants to notify neighbours and/or undertake other forms of publicity. Comments have been invited by 27th September. We shall pay close attention to views about the resource implications of the various options as we take the matter forward.
