Whether their views on the safety of new types of vessels in the period previous to the agreement of international rules are shared by the International Maritime Organisation.
§ The Minister of State, Department of Transport (Lord Brabazon of Tara)Her Majesty's Government recognise that the technical development of new types of vessel, particularly high speed craft, requires a reappraisal of the rules and regulations. With this in mind, the United Kingdom has called for an urgent review of the relevant international code of safety. That review is now under way and the indications are that the United Kingdom proposals on many aspects of safety will be reflected in the code.
