HC Deb 25 July 1991 vol 195 cc777-8W
Mrs. Clwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on his assessment of the immediate humanitarian needs of Iraq.

Mrs. Chalker

Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan produced last week a detailed report on humanitarian needs in Iraq, following the United Nations mission to Iraq which he led earlier this month. We and others are giving the report our urgent consideration. We are continuing our assistance to displaced people in northern Iraq through provision of vehicles, agricultural equipment and building materials, and are playing a leading role in a European Community initiative to provide food, clean water, health care and shelter to those in need in the north-east of the country.
