HL Deb 25 July 1991 vol 531 c68WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will seek to persuade the military Government of Burma to allow the husband and two sons of Aung San Suu Kyi to visit her in house arrest, where she has been held since 1989.

Lord Cavendish of Furness

In a statement on 10th July we called on the Burmese military authorities to put an end to the shameful conditions of Aung San Suu Kyi's house arrest. We take every opportunity to try to persuade the military to respect the fundamental rights of Burmese citizens and will continue to do so.
