§ Mr. Archie HamiltonOn 1 July 1991 there were 2,994 full-time and 3,501 part-time members of the Ulster Defence Regiment. Although each Ulster Defence 697W Regiment battalion has one part-time medical officer on its establishment, only two of the nine posts are currently filled. Each Ulster Defence Regiment battalion has one part-time welfare officer, although they also have other duties. There is also a regimental welfare officer.
