HC Deb 24 July 1991 vol 195 c678W
Mr. Gill

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what has been the annual incidence of food poisoning directly related to the consumption of fresh meat since the introduction of mandatory meat inspection.

Mr. Dorrell

The figures for the annual incidence of outbreaks of bacterial food poisoning and salmonellosis in England and Wales reported to the PHLS communicable disease surveillance centre for 1984 to 1988 (the most recent years available) are in the table.

Earlier data are not readily available and could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
