HC Deb 23 July 1991 vol 195 cc524-5W
Mr. Simon Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list for the last available year the amount of(a) aluminium, (b) copper, (c) lead, (d) tin and (e) zinc recycled as a percentage of total consumption in (i) the United Kingdom and (ii) each of the other European Community countries.

Mr. Baldry

[holding answer 22 July 1991]: The following information has been provided by the Government's Warren Spring laboratory. All figures are for 1989. They represent the amount of scrap used as a proportion of consumption. Figures may not have been constructed on comparable bases. Where a country is not listed, it is because the relevant figures are not available.
