§ Mr. DorrellThe main agency through which the Government support biomedical and clinical research in the United Kingdom is the Medical Research Council, which receives its grant-in-aid from the Department of Education and Science. In 1989–90, the latest year for which figures are available, the MRC spent £911,000 on asthma-related research.
The Department is also supporting a randomised controlled trial concerned with improvement in general practice services to patients with asthma.
