To ask the Secretary of State for Health what consultations he has had with the local authority social services departments regarding the standards set for the administration and care provision in children's homes.

We will shortly be issuing comprehensive guidance and regulations on the provision of residential care for children to accompany the implementation of the Children Act 1989. In preparing the guidance and regulations the Department consulted local authorities.
