HL Deb 18 July 1991 vol 531 cc15-6WA
The Earl of Kimberley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When the report is due on the Northumbrian drift netting.

Baroness Trumpington

Section 39 of the Salmon Act 1986 requires my right honourable friends the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to present a review to Parliament on the salmon net fisheries off the North-East coast of England and the East coast of Scotland. Scientists in the fisheries departments of the Ministry and the Scottish Office have completed a substantial background paper and I know that my colleagues are now considering this, and the way forward, at present. A report will be presented to Parliament as soon as possible.
