To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he has taken to ensure that arrangements and contracts between Government Departments and the Property Services Agency comply with the European supplies directive.

While the PSA is part of the Government, the arrangements that it has with other Departments do not fall within the terms of the directive. The parts of the PSA that are proposed for privatisation are not suppliers of goods on any major scale. However, all PSA divisions have been reminded of the EC/GATT rules relating to public procurement.
