orthopaedics at the Prince of Wales hospital, Rhydlafar; what number of waiting list initiative artificial knee and hip operations are to be undertaken under the terms of the bid; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Nicholas Bennett

A bid of £300,000 for additional theatre facilities to serve the whole of the Prince of Wales hospital, Rhydlafar has been received from South Glamorgan health authority under the 1991–92 waiting times initiative. It does not specify the additional throughput that will result and my officials are in touch with the authority.
