§ Mr. CousinsTo ask the Secretary of State for Health what proportion of the costs of the Centre for Applied Microbiological Research relate to(a) work carried out for, on, or on behalf of, Porton International Ltd. and related companies and (b) the public health laboratory service.
§ Mr. Dorrell[holding answer 9 July 1991]: In the last financial year work for which Porton International was invoiced represented approximately 20 per cent. of the Centre for Applied Microbiological Research—CAMR —costs this year. In the same year the Public Health Laboratory Service bore approximately 40 per cent. of the Centre for Microbiological Research's costs. Funding from other Government Departments and grant-giving bodies comprised the remaining 40 per cent.
