HC Deb 10 July 1991 vol 194 c383W
Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the comparative deleterious effects of the discharge of(a) cream, (b) alcohol and (c) raw sewage into fresh watercourses from processing and manufacturing plants.

Mr. Baldry

The control of discharges to freshwaters is a matter for the National Rivers Authority. In general discharges of cream, alcohol or raw sewage would be expected to have a deleterious effect on freshwaters and would therefore not be permitted.
