HC Deb 10 July 1991 vol 194 cc410-1W
Mr. Battle

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will list all the specific assistance provided by his Department for people suffering from epilepsy; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Dorrell

Health authorities have a duty to assess the health needs in their areas and to make provision. They provide a range of services for people with epilepsy; these are complemented by local authority social services. Responsibility for providing services rests with these local bodies rather than directly with the Department.
