To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many times he has met Wales Pre-School Playgroups Association leaders.

I met leaders of the Wales Pre-School Playgroups Association at a recent reception at the House of Commons. Officials met leaders of Wales PPA on 1 July, when funding arrangements were discussed.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the amount of cash given to the Wales Pre-School Playgroups Association in real terms for the last three years.

The total amount of grant given to the Wales Pre-School Playgroups Association under section 64 of the Health Services and Public Health Act 1968 over the financial year 1988–89, 1989–90 and 1990–91 was £417,757. In addition, in 1989–90 and 1990–91, the Gwynedd Pre-School Playgroups Association received grants totalling £8,500 under section 26 of the Development of Rural Wales Act 1976. For 1991–92 the following grants have been offered to the Wales PPA and its county associations.
