HC Deb 04 July 1991 vol 194 c211W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the hon. Member for Berwick-upon-Tweed as representing the House of Commons Commission, what is the annual cost of flowers supplied to the House; and which Departments of the House use them.

Mr. Beith

In the last financial year the Refreshment Department spent £8,997 on flowers for the areas under its control. Flowers are also supplied by arrangement with the Refreshment Department for private functions: but their cost is charged to the sponsoring Member's account.

I understand that the Parliamentary Works Office has responsibility for the supply of flowers to the Speaker's state rooms and other parts of the House, including the Terrace.
