§ Mr. SpearingTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his latest estimate of the proportions of private cars, or car mileage as a proportion of the respective totals, where the costs incurred by the vehicles are not wholly met by the taxable income of their owners or drivers.
§ Mr. MaudeAbout one third of cars available for use by members of private households are either supplied by employers, or qualify for tax relief against schedule D income tax liability, or attract some allowance for business mileage.
